Did you know that our fabrics began as hand-carved lino prints?
Dalee always begins with an idea sparked from her experiences with the more-than-human world. She then hand-carves her design from lino to create an intricate and completely unique lino print.
From here I can start playing with making a repeating pattern with Dalee’s artwork.
Next comes the scariest and most exhilarating part (especially for Spirit of Tulsi) - choosing the colours!
Once I’ve found a paint chip or fabric swatch in a few shades of the colour I think will work on the base fabric, I send these off to Printink, our screen printers, and they make up a “strike off” of a few colour options for me to choose from.
Once I’ve decided on the best shade of ink, I order a roll of fabric to be printed so I can begin to make samples - this is when we ALL get to see the vision truly come to life!
From here, the design process refines and I can see what’s working and what isn’t. At this point I can still make changes to the garments, so they work with the print and the season.
And we all know that in the case of Care for Kelp I opted to make a whole new repeat so we could avoid that cheeky hand in places we don’t want.
So much care and attention to detail goes into creating these collections. It feels like such a special thing to get to offer and we couldn’t be prouder.
Preorders are open now!
And don’t forget, I’m offering 10% off on all preorders as way of saying thank you for investing early.
Warmest wishes
