For years, I’ve been undercharging for my work.
Not because it isn’t worth more—but because of a deep desire to make it accessible. This is such a universal experience for artist-makers. We create from a place of love, of care, of wanting to connect. And when you pour your soul into something—when you know how much heart went into it—you want as many people as possible to have access to it. To feel it. To be uplifted by it.
And sometimes that means you price too low. You convince yourself it’s fine to scrape by, because at least your work is being worn, loved, and out in the world.
But over time, that model starts to crack. You start to realise that the emotional reward doesn’t cover the financial cost. That making something accessible shouldn’t mean making yourself financially or emotionally depleted.
I’ve been running this brand since 2007. I’ve poured everything into it—design, fit, ethical production, beautiful fibres, and local manufacturing. And while I’ve supported myself solely from my business for over a decade, I’ve done it with little to no buffer. That means constant stress when fabric prices go up, when timelines blow out, or when a style doesn’t sell as expected.
A big turning point was teaching myself surface pattern design five years ago. Creating original prints from scratch has opened a whole new layer of creative joy—and skill—that’s now at the heart of what I offer.
It's time I truly own that. Not just as a maker of clothing, but as a fabric designer. That creative labour is valuable, and I’m ready to honour it.
Raising prices isn’t about greed. It’s about sustainability. For the planet, for the people in my supply chain, and for me.
Prices are going up on July 9th, so now is a great time to snap up a piece you've been eyeing off!
Thank you for being here through it all.

Take care Claire, too many people don’t price in their time and energy when selling their creative output. I know how long it takes me to design and finish a quilt, and generally I don’t sell the result, but when hundreds of hours go into something if you charge what it really cost you no one will pay for it. Glad you are starting to correctly price your time, evn if it means I have to have fewer pieces from you.
