We choose fabrics that not only feel amazing on your skin but are also kind to the earth.
All of our pieces are made from natural fibres, with organic cotton being the cornerstone of our collections. For our stretch garments, we add just a small amount of spandex—enough to ensure longevity and comfort, especially as your body shifts and changes over time. It’s our way of making pieces that move with you, not against you.
But quality materials and ethical processes come at a cost—and here’s why.
🌿 Hand-Printed Fabrics, Made Locally
Our Dalee Ella Collection is screen printed by hand, by a talented wife-and-husband team in Collingwood, Melbourne. It’s a slow, deliberate process that takes skill, patience, and precision. These artisans use eco-certified, Permaset inks with top-tier environmental specs—ensuring the colours are bold and beautiful without compromising the planet.
Screen printing at this scale isn’t just a process; it’s a craft. And we feel incredibly lucky to partner with makers who align so deeply with our values.
🖨️ Eco Digital Prints on Natural Fibres
For our Storyline prints, we work with a trusted ethical printer in China called Senboo that only works with natural fibre bases—no poly blends here. All prints are made using non-toxic, Oeko-Tex certified inks, which means they’re free from harmful chemicals and safe for you and the planet.
We intentionally choose suppliers who are as committed to sustainability as we are.
🧶 Locally Made Organic Cotton Knit
The organic cotton knit we’ve used since the very beginning is not only buttery soft and long-wearing—it’s also knitted and dyed in Australia, using certified organic dyes.
This is especially rare. Australia’s textile industry has shrunk dramatically, so finding a local supplier who can offer this level of quality and environmental care is something we don’t take for granted.
♻️ Why We Avoid Polyester
You may have noticed that we don’t use polyester or synthetic blends in most of our collections. That’s a deliberate choice.
Polyester is, at its core, plastic. It can take hundreds of years to break down—and while it’s cheap to produce, it comes at a huge environmental cost. Every time polyester garments are washed, they shed microplastics that end up in waterways and oceans, harming marine life and entering our food systems.
We’re committed to reducing this impact wherever we can. By choosing natural fibres over synthetics, we’re creating clothing that can return to the earth without leaving behind a legacy of pollution.
🌱 A Thoughtful Balance for Longevity
That said, you will see a small percentage of spandex in our knits. This is because including a low amount of synthetic fibre (usually around 5-7%) dramatically increases the lifespan of a garment. It allows the fabric to keep its shape, resist sagging, and handle frequent wear—making it a better investment long term.
It’s all about balance: using the least possible amount of synthetics to get the best durability, so you can love and wear each piece for years instead of months.
🔍 Always Refining, Always Improving
As a brand, we’re constantly evaluating and refining our fabric choices to lower our environmental impact. From trialling new natural fibre suppliers, to researching innovative cotton farming processes, to listening to your feedback about how garments perform in real life—this commitment to thoughtful production is part of our DNA.
When you invest in one of our garments, you’re not just buying clothes. You’re supporting a supply chain that prioritises:
✅ Natural over synthetic
✅ Craft over mass production
✅ Fair pay over shortcuts
✅ Longevity over landfill
It costs more to make clothing this way—but in the long run, we believe it’s absolutely worth it.
Our prices are going up on July 9th to reflect the true value of our fabrics and clothing. If you’ve been eyeing a piece, now might just be the right time to bring it home.
