5 Tips to Shop Intentionally (Even During a Sale) 🤓
I’m running a sale PLUS Black Friday is just around the corner. The internet is shouting “BUY! BUY! BUY!”
As a seller of new products I do feel a responsibility to temper my sale messaging with some seemingly conflicting messaging i.e. you don’t need more to be happy 😊
If you do decide to shop mine or other sales, here are 5 ways to do it with integrity:
1️⃣ Pause before you click “add to cart.” Double check the product details
I'm definitely guilty of this from time to time. Its so easy to get swept up in the rush. Ask yourself — do I love it, or am I just excited by the discount?
Is this size is right? Take the time to read the "Fit Advice" drop down - I include model measurements you can compare your own to, plus I will often make detailed suggestions based on body shape. If in doubt, contact me! I'm more than happy to help you figure out what size will fit you best.
2️⃣ Think about future you.
Can you picture yourself still wearing it next season? Next year? Particularly if it's a printed piece - does it really speak to me? Can I see myself wearing these colours over and over?
3️⃣ Prioritise fit, feel longevity & resale value.
If it’s comfy, flattering, well-made AND you know you’ll wear it more than 10 times, you’re heading in the right direction.
Will it maintain its value to potentially resell or donate? Do I realistically have the energy to find a new home for items I'm not longer wearing? (On this - later this month I'll be announcing a new resale platform I'm proudly becoming part of).
4️⃣ Check your wardrobe first.
This is why I like to give you a good heads up with whats going on sale when and for how much. This is to give you time to see what you already have — maybe this new piece complements something in your wardrobe perfectly, or maybe you already own something similar?
5️⃣ Support what aligns with your values.
If you’re going to spend, do your research and spend with intention - if its possible support small, ethical makers who create with care.
If you shop with big businesses look for B-corp certifications to know everyone is being paid fairly and enviro standards are complied with.
