A Summer of Experimentation

A Summer of Experimentation

Let the Experiment Commence 👩🏻🔬

Lately, I’ve been feeling excited about smaller, self-made collections — pieces I can sew in small batches that feel manageable, intentional, and creatively freeing.

This is an experiment, so I don’t know exactly how it will pan out.

But here’s my hypothesis 🤓

  • By side-stepping those pesky production minimums I can work in smaller batches = I can take more creative risks, with less risk.
  • Offering preorders means I can make the sizes people actually need — reducing waste, which is good for both the planet and my bank balance.
  • It’ll bring me back to my roots and allow me to spend more time designing and making and less time selling.
  • Smaller batches means I'll be able to bring back more of my older Gwyllem styles, which I often get asked to do
  • It’ll keep things novel and interesting — for both of us.
  • I won’t have to market one style endlessly (see above: “novel & interesting.”)
  • I’ll expand my sewing skills. I already have a wishlist of new sewing tools and techniques I can’t wait to try.
  • I can spend less time on my laptop! After a month or so of making things myself again, my body is already thanking me for moving around more.
  • With more freedom to experiment, I might discover new bestsellers I never saw coming.
  • And maybe — just maybe — this could be the beginning of a truly sustainable business model for me heading into the years ahead. With the wild world of the internet changing day-by-day its important to keep testing new business operations to keep that income flowing in

It’s just a hypothesis…

but I’m ready to test it.

Which leads me to introducing you to my first two experiments:

#1 The Matchmaker Bolero

Designed to match perfectly with our latest Storyline Jumpsuits and pair back effortlessly with other pieces from your Slow Fashion Australia wardrobe.

Order it with a print trim for a playfully sophisticated look that ties in beautifully with your new SL jumpsuit, or choose a plain version for maximum versatility in your everyday dressing.

I’ll leave the choice with you — but just a heads-up, there’s only enough fabric for around 10 of each colour.

Made from 100% organic double gauze cotton, it’s light-to-medium weight with a lovely drape. Because it doesn’t touch your underarm, you can wear it multiple times before washing — extending the life of your garment (and saving you from sweaty-pit summer dramas… 😅)

Beautifully finished with French seams, bound edges, and a double-layer back yoke, this bolero might look simple — but once you slip it on, you’ll feel how considered and beautifully made it truly is.

Available to order in:

🧡 Rust Plain

🧡 Rust with Little Darlings Trim

💙 Cerulean Blue Plain

💙 Cerulean Blue with Not So Square Trim

🍷 Burgundy Plain

Or message me if you’d like a combo that isn’t listed 💌

Each trim is carefully cut to coordinate perfectly with its matching Storyline jumpsuit — so what you see in the sample is exactly what you’ll receive. No surprises, just beautifully intentional design. 🌿

#2 Storyline Jumpsuit in brand new prints

I've been teasing these for a while and they're getting a lot of love on the socials. I'm calling this an experiment because it will be the first time I'm launching a batch of new prints to be made as a preorder in the sizes you want!

It will be fascinating to see which sizes and prints sell the fastest - I have my suspicions, but I can't tell you how often I've been wrong about what will be popular 🙃

Available to order in:

Not So Square Print - a brand new print featuring a geometric design in a balanced combo of earthy neutral greys and greens, with pops of magenta, cerulean blue and muddy yellow.

Little Darlings Print - If you've been following my socials you'll know that this print was inspired by my weekly bush walks in the Northern Rivers and beyond. Featuring several native plants and a special mountain katydid which captured my imagination. I took photos of these little darlings and created wobbly illustrations to bring them to life. In my famous bright jewel tones to give the nature lovers a wild and gorgeous summer print.

You can watch how these came to life here on insta: Little Darlings Story

Nasturtium Rust - This has to be one of my absolute favourite prints, so I had to bring it back in a rust tone for Summer. There is something about this colour that I am super drawn to when the weather heats up, reminding me of the desert sands and rusty car bodies I would see on my camping trips as a little one. But featuring Nasturtiums which will always remind me of when I first moved to the Northern Rivers from the outskirts of Sydney.

Tumbling and trailing in everyone’s gardens, I’d never seen Nasturtiums grow so massive, with huge Lilly pad sized leaves, thanks to the sub-tropical climate.

This print is an ode to that magical feeling I get whenever I see someone’s front garden overgrown with these glowing beauties.

This mini collection drops this Wednesday 19th at 8pm AEDT - only about 10 of each Matchmaker Bolero available and about 12 of each jumpsuit. So if you have any questions, please ask and then set your timers!

Let the experiment begin! 🌿✨
